PROJECT

Longwood Public Library

The project involved a comprehensive renovation and strategic addition to an existing public library, transforming it into a high-performance, community-focused facility while preserving its civic identity. Through an integrated design approach emphasizing energy efficiency, daylighting, water conservation, and the use of sustainable materials, the building achieved LEED Platinum certification—the highest level of recognition from the U.S. Green Building Council. Upon completion, it became the first library in New York State to earn LEED Platinum status, setting a precedent for sustainable public architecture and demonstrating how adaptive reuse and thoughtful expansion can dramatically reduce environmental impact while enhancing user experience.

“We have a better building because of Sandpebble’s care and concern. Sandpebble helped us get to the finished product we have today. They guided us through the bidding process so that we could hire local contractors and get the best quality work…..
Longwood taxpayers, you can sleep better because of Sandpebble.”
